Min of Sport National Youth Sport Festival The Ministry of Sport will host the 19th Annual National Youth Sport Festival on Saturday 30th June, 2012 at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sporting Arena, Eddie Hart Grounds, Tacarigua. It is anticipated that this festival will attract approximately fifteen hundred (1500) athletes to partake in any of its twelve (12) sporting disciplines between the hours of 7am to 6pm. Competitions will run simultaneously for various sporting disciplines such as netball, wind ball cricket, volleyball, table tennis, track and field, martial arts, tennis and hockey. Special Olympic categories (male/female) will also be facilitated for 5k, football, cricket, volleyball and Bocce. One of the main objectives of the National Youth Sport Festival is to bring communities together in providing support for the youth and also to identify talent that may be overlooked at community level. Registration forms will be made available at the District Offices, Stadia, Indoor Facilities and Youth Facilities. Players should be twenty (20) years and under to partake in activities at the Festival. The deadline date for registration is Wednesday 27th June, 2012. |

Ministry of Sport Launch of Sport Academies PostponedThe Ministry of Sport launch of the Sport Academies at the under-mentioned venues have been postponed until further notice. May 8th 2012 (Chaguanas East) at 3:15pm to 4:45pm, Auditorium of the Cunupia High School, Hassarath Road, Cunupia May 15th 2012 (St. George West) at 3:30pm - Russell Latapy Secondary School at # 1 Cipriani Street, Morvant. The first launch was held on May 3, 2012 at 10am at the Siparia Sporting Complex. The Sport Academies will target ’youths’ within each community . The initiative is part of the Ministry’s strategic effort to facilitate, encourage and empower young men and women through the medium of sport. You will be informed as to the new date for the launch.
